Young writers in the Strathcona County area are encouraged to join the Writers Foundation of Strathcona County Young Writers Circle under the guidance of established WFSC members. We will mentor young writers who have a passion for the written word. We will provide positive encouragement in creative writing projects and feedback based on their requests. If young writers are interested in running their own meetings, we will suggest protocol and content that will make this a positive experience for them. Annual Student Membership fees are only $10. Additional fees apply if workshops, speakers or one-on-one sessions are booked or requested.
For 2010 we meet the first Tuesday of every month up to and including August at the Strathcona County Library in the Multi-purpose Room. After August the meetings places are TBA as the Library prepares to move to its new location in November.
Share your writing with others who love the written word as much as you do.
*NOTE: for the summer meetings we will offer computer help to those of you experiencing trouble or concern navigating the WFSC Web Site - we would like to encourage everyone to use the "virtual writing circle."
The Writers Foundation of Strathcona County's new group called Writing Friends meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday morning of each month at 10 AM - location: July meetings will be held at Cafe Haven, Sherwood Park
The planned format will be to meet and then have a prompt or a mini-workshop item to start us off. Then for the rest of the time we will write - something new, something previously started but not yet complete, something old that we want to revamp. It will be companionably quiet.

This Saturday's prompt is to weave a story around a character I saw walking along the sidewalk yesterday morning.
A young woman of about 26 years, dressed in shorts and T shirt and runners. Holding an open book in one hand as she strolled along.
What was the book? Why does she read whilst walking?
Have fun.
