Our 2010 Novel Workshop is now complete. READ our participant's evaluation on the value they received from this 8 month session.

This year's Novel Workshop provided information, support and an editing exchange for interested members of the Writers Foundation of Strathcona County. Four members signed up and, because life has a way of interferring with best laid plans, three members completed the 8 month run.

Participants took turns hosting the two and a half hour meetings held the last Tuesday of each month, in Sherwood Park and Gibbons.

Never Been Better! September edition, out on stands Friday, September 3rd

Getting back to routine has always been the theme of fall. It rivals spring when it comes to offering new things, new programs, and new direction. Although spring heralds in the newness of a fresh season, fall ushers in a renewed feeling - rejuvenation after summer's distraction.

Fallen leaves

The big chill is coming but let's enjoy the joy of fall first. Use this sentence in a tale to warm the heart.

"The leaves crunched beneath my feet, my destination unknown."

Enjoy

First Tuesday of every month from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm - older teens are welcome to attend the regular Writer's Circle, if they choose, from 7:00 pm - 8:45 pm.

Youth who enjoy writing are encouraged to join the Writers Foundation of Strathcona County. The Young Writers Group - Writing Rocks! - will operate under the guidance of established WFSC members.  Do you have a passion for words? We will mentor young writers and provide positive encouragement in creative writing projects. If the group is interested in running their own meetings, we will help set up protocol and suggest content to make this a positive writing experience.

End: 09/07/2010 8:30 pm

Strathcona County Library in the Multi-purpose Room - 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

The Library begins their move but for September we can still utilize the meeting room for our writers circle.

Share your writing with others who love the written word as much as you do.

PLEASE remember that next week, Tuesday September 14th, is the WFSC Annual General Meeting. We encourage everyone to attend - if you are a member in good standing (all fees must be up to date) you have a right to attend and vote on issues concerning the Foundation.

WE WILL BE PRESENTING minor changes to our By-laws that require a vote of the membership.

Thursday September 09, 2010
Start: 09/09/2010 10:00 am
End: 09/09/2010 12:00 pm

Writing Friends meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday morning of each month at 10 AM - location: SEPTEMBER meetings will be held at Cafe Haven, Sherwood Park

The planned format will be to meet and then have a prompt or a mini-workshop item to start us off.  Then for the rest of the time we will write - something new, something previously started but not yet complete, something old that we want to revamp.  It will be companionably quiet.

By design or nature?

What if there is a rainbow inside the trunk or a bustling city of tiny people? What if someone hid a treasure map there that would lead to uncovering the riches of a lost civilization?
