Axis of Starlight
Sitting by the fire
On a cloudless night
The moon shines her light.
On those in her care
The evening is still.
In the distance coyote
Mournfully wail.
Reminding us
Of sorrows left behind
I dee the constellations
These I know by heart.
Shooting stars like kisses
Bringing us back
To the start
The world is silent.
Except for this night
The touch of your hand
Something stirs inside.
When life was so simple
An axis of starlight
You were my love.
The keeper of my light
