Attempting to Reconcile
Conversation prompt – Feb. 20, 2021
Norman Bale pushed open the bedroom door and entered carrying a tray of his wife’s favourite breakfast foods – bacon, scrambled eggs, toast and jam, and orange slices – and an empty cup for the coffee he brought in a thermal travel mug. As he stood at the foot of the bed he studied the scene. His wife was curled up on her side of the bed; his side had remained untouched. He concentrated on her face, which was the only part of her that was not cocooned within the blankets. He tried to determine her mood based on her expression but he saw nothing out of the ordinary.
