8. Shelter in a Maze
A little mouse runs free
Corners suggest ways to go
Thinks of it as life.
(c) Linda J. Pedley 04/12/2020
Shelter in a Maze
Wondering aimless, lost
Every corner a dead end
I march on, at what cost?
What is life without a friend?
Searching for shelter in a maze
I find a door and then another
Hope seems fleeting
Until I find a lover
A chance meeting
Help to find shelter in a maze
Shadows block the heat
With a partner, path seems easy
Could we have it beat?
Never known it to be so breezy
Beneath the shelter in a maze
Two heads are better than one
An exit found
We are not done
Another maze; need to cover more ground
In search for another Shelter in a maze
Someone by my side
A partner in this quest
Shelter in a Maze
-
You asked me once, over cups of cold brew,
How is it I can manage to survive
In this world that has given sword and drew?
It’s a wonder that any can thrive
Amidst the chaos that is this life, this mildew and torture
Of a world torn asunder, rife with rich and resplendent;
I wander amidst the shadows and the crags, begging for a cure
Awash in the shadows and mist of tenement.
You asked me, once in the grayest rain
Of a city draped in dreary memory.
How do I exist through this pain
All in all, how do I not go crazy?
Come, sit with me a while, and I will tell…
